The Wayland Community Fund (originally, the Wayland Charitable Committee) was established by the Wayland Commissioners of Trust Funds in 1997 to provide short-term, emergency financial assistance to Wayland residents. Initially funded by a request from the late Suzanne Leavitt*, the WCF is now funded by both her bequest and charitable contributions from Wayland residents and organizations. It is staffed by five unpaid volunteers.

  • Suzanne Leavitt was a WWI French war bride who married John Leavitt of Wayland. They lived here for many years. Suzanne Leavitt spent her final years in Florida, but remembered Wayland in her will with her bequest to the community.
